Thomas Granville Carver Sr.

Thomas Granville Carver was born about 1800 probably in Blount County, Tennessee. He was one of the first settlers in Cades Cove. His first wife is unknown. He had at least five children, Azor, Sela, Lawson, Ake, and Thomas Carver. All of these children were born in Tennessee with the exception of Azor, who was born in Cherokee County, NC. He was married the second time on May 25, 1840 to Dicy Duncan in Blount County, TN. She was born 1810 in Yancy County, NC. They lived near Murphy, NC. They had four children; Jane, Eveline, Warren, and Babery Carver. Thomas Carver died before 1860. In 1880 Dicy Carver was living with her son Doctor Warren Carver in Yancy County, NC. She later moved back to Graham County, NC where she died about 1885. They are buried in Lone Oak Cemetery, Graham County, NC with family members close by. Thomas Granville Carver was the great-grandfather of Etta Davis Deaton Meeler and the grandfather of Loutisha “Tishie" Carver Deaton.
